Grow Money and Conservation on the Farm
Mark it on your calendar, June 6 at 5 p.m., Growing Money is going to be the hot topic! We are excited to be at Twin Oak Farms in Perrysville for our Conservation Chat next month.
Speakers will include Jason Ruhl from NRCS with projects and cost share that may be available. Jason Workman on the history of the family farm and current projects that are underway. A representative from ODA will chat about updates on H2Ohio and what the expansion into Ashland County may look like.
Ryan Hayden from The Ohio State University will be sharing his knowledge and experience with inter seeding cover crops and seed selections. Along with these great speakers we will be inter seeding a demo plot at Twin Oak Farm, we are excited to see this piece of equipment in action and follow the progress through out the summer and into fall of the growth of this plot.
We encourage you to join us for a great field day event. Not only gain knowledge on inter seeding, but to see our equipment rental line.
While at the event, sign up will be available for 2023 Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District (MWCD). In 2022 cost share was available for developing Voluntary Nutrient Management Plans and Grazing Plans both at $10 per acre. Cost share was also available for cover crops at $12 per acre for those fields that qualified and were in the MWCD jurisdiction.
Soon, we will have more exciting details on what practices the cost share will cover for 2023. For more information on cost share projects or equipment rental call Ashland Soil & Water Conservation District at 419-281-7645.
