Falling for Photos walk scheduled for Saturday
There’s something magical about fall, and one of the most magical parts of the season is enjoying a crisp walk in the woods. Unfortunately, not everyone has their own backyard, leaf-filled oasis to enjoy.
That’s why Ashland Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) is hosting a Falling for Photos event this Saturday beginning at 2 p.m. at the Hazel Willis Woods. Parking is just $5, and participants can come enjoy a crisp fall hike throughout the 40-acre mature woodland.
In addition, Ashland SWCD staff will be on-hand to take up to 5 digital photographs of your group for a small donation; proceeds will go toward the upkeep and maintenance of the Hazel Willis Woods.
The Hazel Willis Woods property has been owned by Ashland SWCD since 1980. The 40-acre woods was a gift from Walter Willis in memory of his wide Hazel to be used as an outdoor educational laboratory.
This summer Ashland SWCD partnered with The Wilderness Center to conduct an Ohio Certified Volunteer Naturalist program at the woods, and the two organizations are also in the midst of a year-long nature journaling program at the woods.
Parking is limited, to tickets must be pre-purchased for this event online at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/falling-for-photos-tickets-452146070067 The Falling for Photos event will run from 2-5 p.m. For additional information, contact Lynnsey Winchell at 419-281-7645.
