Photo Walk to Help Capture Winter’s Natural Beauty
Winter offers spectacular opportunities for rare photographic treasures of natural beauty. That’s why Ashland Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) is teaming up with Amanda Kiplinger from Crooked Creek Photos to host a winter photo walk on January 29 at the Hazel Willis Woods near Mifflin.
“The winter landscape offers unique opportunities for viewing wildlife and capturing the stark, quiet beauty of the woods in winter,” said Jane Houin, Ashland SWCD director. “There’s just something special about experiencing the woods in winter and the adventure of capturing those images on camera.”
The walk will be led by Kinglinger, a photographer from Polk, who will share tips and tricks for capturing your best nature photographs in the winter. Even without a blanket of snow, winter’s gray skies offer unique opportunities for photographic wonders.
The walk will take place in the Hazel Willis Woods, a 40-acre natural woodland owned by Ashland SWCD and used for outdoor education. The walk will take place at 2 p.m. and is free, but pre-registration is required as spaces are limited. Reservations can be made by contacting Katie Eikleberry at 419-281-7645. Participants should dress for the weather and for hiking.
