Trees may give you some shade on a hot day or they may have beautiful blossoms in the spring but trees also bring a lot of environmental benefits to the table. Trees can have a cooling effect in urban areas with a large amount of impervious surfaces such as black top. This is often referred to as the Urban Heat Island Effect.

Where buildings and other infrastructures absorb heat and re-emit it. Trees can help reduce this effect. Trees also act as a natural filter to the air that we breath. They filter out harmful dust and pollutants such as ozone, carbon dioxide, and sulfur dioxide. As well as becoming a natural filter trees also give us the oxygen we need to breath. When it comes to impervious surfaces that we previously had talked about this can also cause a great deal of stormwater runoff.

Trees can help reduce stormwater runoff, which in turn reduces erosion and pollution in waterways. Lastly, trees provide shelter for a variety of wildlife species. Some of these species even rely on trees for their food.

When thinking of planting a tree or two make sure to take all these wonderful benefits into consideration! If you have any questions about our sale or the benefits of planting trees please feel free to give our office a call at 419-281-7645.
