Ashland SWCD Tree and Fish Sale Begin

Ashland Soil & Water Conservation District has sent their tree order form in our cooperator’s newsletter.  We are selling bare rooted transplants and bare rooted seedlings. The seedling is a smaller plant than a transplant.  Transplants are a tree seedling that has been removed from their seedbed and planted so they have room to grow.   Our transplants have been allowed to grow for two years in this environment.

We are offering for sale the following Evergreen transplants: White Pine, Norway Spruce, White (Arborvitae) Cedar, Scotch Pine, Concolor Fir, and the Balsam Fir.

The Red Oak, White Oak, Weeping (Yellow) Willow and the Sugar Maple are the hardwood trees we are selling this year.

For the birds and wildlife, you may purchase the Ohio Buckeye, Hackberry, Flowering Dogwood and Domestic Apple.

This year we are offering 2 packs of trees: beauty and deer. The beauty package has: Dolgo Crabapple, Red Bud, American Plumtree, Flowing Dogwood, and Black Chokeberry and the deer package has: American Hazelnut, Chinkapin Oak, Persimmon, Domestic Apple, and Coralberry.

If you need to restock your pond for the spring, the Ashland SWCD is offering for sale: Bluegill, Hybrid Bluegill, Channel Catfish, Largemouth Bass, Perch, Black Crappie, Redear Shellcracker, Fathead Minnows, White Amur, and Multi-Colored Koi until April 10, 2020.  We offer a Pond Management Book written by Steve Fender for $20.00 and if you have an old pond you may want to treat it with Mature Pond, a bacteria to clean up the bottom of old ponds.  Please call 419-281-7645, stop in at 1763 State Route 60, Ashland, or visit our website at www.ashlandswcd.com to place your order.
